SS-31

SS-31 is a synthetic peptide that targets mitochondria to improve cellular energy production and reduce oxidative stress, showing promise in clinical trials for conditions like heart failure, kidney disease, aging, and mitochondrial disorders, though it can cause mild injection site reactions. It works by binding to cardiolipin in the inner mitochondrial membrane, stabilizing it and promoting ATP synthesis.
